Port of La Paz, Mexico

The Port of La Paz, Mexico is a major ecotourism destination that attracts several Yacht transport players who ferry tourists to its beautiful sandy beaches year-round. The Port of La Paz is the major commercial center of the Mexican sate of Baja California Sur, a relatively dry peninsula located about 800 miles from the Mexican-U.S. border. The First permanent settlement were established in 1811 by the Spanish after previous attempts by the explorer Hernan Cortez in 1535 and Jesuits in 1720 had failed. The Port of La Paz was a major pearl trading center in the late 19th century through to early 20th century before the collapse of the industry in 1930s when local oyster were heavily wiped out by disease. La Paz is Spanish for peace or tranquility.

The port of La Paz has outstandingly beautiful sandy beaches with plenty of sea life , natural mangrove forests and friendly Pacenos (local inhabitants) whose easygoing attitude makes the center a true port of “Peace” and tourism haven. La Paz is a rich cultural center of The Mexican state of Baja as it still features the influence of Spanish heritage in the language, cuisine, culture, annual pre-lent carnival and beautiful neocolonial houses. there is plenty to do for tourists including snorkeling, scuba-diving, arts shopping, hiking, and eco tours. La Paz has several beachfront Condos and Sandy beaches north of the city along the road to Tecolote. The port of La Paz is located in a beautiful natural harbor, which combined with its dry climate makes it ideal for whale shark and dolphin excursions. The port has a lot of Marinas that serve the robust tourism industry. The near-by island of Gaviota is also a snorkeling paradise in the Balandra Bay. The pearl industry in Port La Paz is slowly recovering as a few farms have already been producing cultured pearls since 1990s.
